The term human resource management is about people, the foremost asset, in the organization. Without them none of the business would exist. Hence it is important that there is a smooth approach to them, so that they give their maximum output to the organization to achieve their goals. It is also a planned approach so that the individuals also meet their own goals.
To get the maximum output it is necessary to train the people according to the business needs. Knowledge about the processes and the work has to be imparted to them so that they are equipped well to perform. It is only due to the lack of knowledge or training they do not perform.
Traditionally speaking human resource management involves employing people in the various departments of the organization and to develop their skills to meet he business needs. Payroll and compensation come in accordance to their work. For the success of the human resource process, they have to meet the organizational goals. If practiced well the human resource management techniques would force the managers to set goals in line with the business and make the workforce to work to meet the goals.
Just recruitment, payroll, and compensation are thought of as human resource management in a restricted sense. Now-a-days the top management is thinking of how well the human resource management department is contributing to the overall business goals. The human resource department personnel also strive to prove that their contribution is considerable. They have to move forward apart from recruitment to contribute to the overall success of the organization.
There are various processes involved in human resource management. Some of the processes of human resource management are recruitment, induction and orientation, skills management, training and development, compensation, personnel administration, time management, travel management, benefits administration, and performance appraisal. Some of the processes might be assigned to other departments. All these processes together achieve the goals of the organization.
