Understanding change management theories

Change management follows certain theories for its state and implementation. Knowledge of these change management theories will help you understand the change management process and tools clearly. Catastrophe Theory, Chaos theory, Contingency Theory, Expectancy theory, path-goal theory, Theory of constraints, Ajzen theory of planned behavior, and McGregor Theory X Y are some of the change management theories that you need to understand.

The catastrophe theory which is considered as a part of the chaos theory is based on the fact that any continuous action might result in discontinuous result. With this theory you can understand that any change that is injected in a system will be absorbed by the system to retain the stable state in which it is. If the change is so strong that it disturbs the system, then the system will oscillate and try to settle down in another stable state. This change that makes the system to settle down in another stable state is called the catastrophic change.

Dynamic and complex systems are studies using the technique in chaos theory. This theory states that there is some orderly patterns in a chaotic system. This orderly pattern is studied in this theory. A chaotic system is understood to display an aperiodic behavior. When we say an aperiodic behavior we meant to say that there is some repeated pattern of values even when there is no change. All businesses are done in a complex environment and chaotic theory helps you to understand the patterns in it. The chaos theory can be used to study Business strategy, decision making, changes and behavior in the organization and stock market behavior.
