Strangely, business owners do not think of recovery planning despite the unexpected disasters. They carry of their daily routine unaware of the consequences of these disasters. When there is a disaster they are in a tight corner and do not know what to do fix the situation.

 

Be prepared for a disaster or hard drive failure. As a first step analyze your business or operations. Examine how many times your system breakdown and how you can manage with out the equipment. Think about the causes and the possible solutions. If the office is affected in the disaster seek a different location for continuing your business.

 

Maintain a dedicated team to be of service in case the disaster strikes unexpectedly. Hold regular meetings with them and let them be responsible for your recovery plan and see that every thing is accurate. Then the team will be ready for any disaster and rectification or fixing up the situation.

 

Create backups of IT systems frequently and test them. Let them be in a safe place and out og harm. Check up with your disaster recovery team and ensure they know the location of your backups.

It is important for disaster recovery planning to up date the inventory on all your equipment and material. Treat this as the top concern to easily identify what you have and how to manage replacement of equipment after a disaster. Maintain the phone numbers of suppliers for easy access in times of emergency.

 

Place all your recovery plans on the computer as well as record them on paper. Noting them on paper can allow access without any problems. Be prepared always to face any disaster that can strike at any point of time. Advance thinking, planning and preparation will put in good stead to handle any problem arising out of disaster. Thus any disaster need not prevent you from carrying on your normal daily routine and activities.
