Implementing a change management strategy

Change management is a procedure that is used to manage the changes and the people affected by the change that is implemented. This procedure is adopted in any business and in any vertical. The change requested is implemented only after analyzing the impact of it in the business.

The change management strategy involves communicating the changes to be made to the concerned departments and getting their opinion. The impact of the change that is going to take place is also studies carefully before implementing the change in the business process or project.

A change management committee is formed to scrutinize the changes requested. The change management request is analyzed for the impact of the changes and proper documentation is created. This document is circulated among the various departments and approval from them is got before implementing the changes. Any discrepancies found in the document are raised with the change management committee by the concerned department. Once this document is circulated and approval from the departments is got, the document is approved by the top management for the change to be implemented. The time frame for implementing the change is formed and it is executed in such a way that the existing process is not affected. The change management process helps to track the changes that are made and the progress of the changes implemented.

Before the changes go live, the changes made are tested for quality by the quality audit team. Once the testing for quality is over, the changes made will go live. With that it does not stop. The impact of the changes is measured in reality to match that of the estimation made before implementation. Thus the effective of the change made is also measured. There is a common belief that the implementation of the change management only slows down the response time to the change requested.
